The greatest amount of time and attention is paid to the objects that are individually placed inside the dry cell chamber at the end of the body. The creation of the dry cell is the creation of the image and the experience. Color, texture, line, form, and mood are all considered during the composition of the piece. No two are the same. Often included are: handmade beads, antique jewelry, semiprecious stones, collected shells, antique buttons, and other found objects. Many of these items have been collected in travel and trade, sometimes making them impossible to find again. We have also completed commission work that has incorporated cherished family memorabilia such as small heirlooms and personal jewelry pieces.
An additional element is also examined; sound. Before it is regarded as finished, the kaleidoscope’s image source must sound pleasing when it is turned. Its sound is part of its experience and personality. Browse available selections through the
